San Diego, CA – Jordan Z. Marks, San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk (ARCC), is proud to congratulate Martin Arias, ARCC Taxpayer Advocate, for his selection as one of San Diego’s Top 50 Latino Leaders of Influence for 2025. The recognition was presented by the San Diego Business Journal newspaper in association with the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

“This recognition highlights his dedication to public service, advocacy and making a meaningful impact in the community,” the newspaper said in a statement about Arias.

As the ARCC Taxpayer Advocate, Arias is involved in educating the community about the many ARCC policies and programs that helps save money for local residents and provide outstanding customer service.

“I’m grateful for this honor to be recognized as a Top Latino Leader of Influence alongside so many inspiring leaders who are making an impact across San Diego,” Arias said.

“This recognition speaks to my ongoing efforts to improve access to government and county services, especially to underserved communities. Under the leadership of Jordan Marks, I’m proud to help families, veterans and our community residents navigate property-tax challenges and access the relief they deserve.”

A San Diego native and son of Mexican immigrants, Arias, 33, was raised in South San Diego County and graduated from Montgomery High School. He’s a first-generation college graduate with a bachelor’s degree in political science earned in 2015 from San Diego State University.

After college, Arias joined the San Diego County District Attorney’s Office, serving as the Director of Prevention and Intervention Programs, where he managed a team, oversaw program outcomes, and built trust and strong relationships with community members and other governmental agencies to resolve community cases.

Prior to his work at the District Attorney’s Office, Arias served as a Legislative Aide in the California State Senate, where he was deeply involved in policy research, legislative analysis, and public speaking.

After eight years with the District Attorney’s Office, Arias joined ARCC in September 2024.

His dedication to community service includes serving as a board member of the Border View YMCA, Board President at the IB Neighborhood Center, and a past board member of the San Diego County Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

He’s also currently serving as a public official on the San Ysidro Elementary School District Board of Trustees. He was appointed to the Board in December 2024.

“We’re very proud of Martin’s dedication to community service and congratulate him on a well-deserved honor from the San Diego Business Journal,” said Marks. “Martin is excellent in his community outreach in both English and Spanish that have resulted in record-high, property tax relief, saving millions of dollars for homeowners, veterans, and seniors.

“We’re grateful he’s a member of our staff, all of whom are committed to providing outstanding customer service. He understands that our job is to work for the people and protect taxpayers. As your elected advocate, my office is deeply committed to putting people first with great customer service and property tax savings programs.”
