SAN DIEGO — In celebration of May 4th, widely known by Star Wars fans as “May the 4th be with you,” San Diego County Assessor/Recorder/County Clerk Jordan Z. Marks invites the public to take part in a special wedding ceremony with Star Wars-inspired vows at the County Clerk’s Downtown waterfront office, open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. for marriage licenses and ceremonies. Appointments recommended, but walk-ins welcome.

County Clerk Jordan Marks said, "In every great love story, there’s a spark that brings two people together; call it destiny, or call it the Force.” Marks continued, "On May 4th, I become the 'Yoda' of love and invite couples to begin their own ‘happily ever after’ love story Jedi-style with a both meaningful and unforgettable Star Wars-inspired ceremony in a galaxy not so far away.”

Only the Downtown waterfront location will host the themed ceremonies. Couples may exchange vows and share their intergalactic love outdoors at the Waterfront Park wedding arbor with the historic County Administration Center as a backdrop or inside one of the office’s ceremony rooms. Couples are encouraged to wear costumes—Jedi, Sith, droids, or other character-themed attire, and couples may choose to incorporate the exclusive May 4 themed vows into their ceremony. Appointments can be booked online at sdarcc.gov/marriages or by calling (619) 237-0502.

Fees:

• Marriage license (nonconfidential): $129
• Civil ceremony performed by county staff: $107
• Ceremonies are available in English or Spanish.
• Parking is free at the County garage downtown
